Biography

Shinichi Moriyama was born in Kagoshima, Japan where he attended LaSalle High School.  He spent several years travelling around the United States and working in Tokyo before entering Temple University, where he studied Political Science.  After moving to Oregon in 1995, he began studies at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.  He has been a Licensed Acupuncturist since 2003 with an office in NE Portland.

Since graduating from OCOM, he has continued to expand his clinical skills through studies of specialized areas of Oriental Medicine such as cosmetic facial acupuncture, Japanese acupuncture and abdominal palpation, and MS pain management.  For several years, he contributed a column called “Acupuncture Explained” to the Yuuyake Shimbun.

He lives with his wife, son, and two cats in SE Portland.  In his spare time, he practices Qi Gong and paints.  He has an annual show of his art at Sequential Art Gallery + Studio in downtown Portland.
