PC 6
This point has recently become one of the most commonly used points. I usually use this point to relax the stomach and diaphragm tension due to stress and anxiety. Since almost everybody is anxious and stressed recently, this point has become very popular.
When an anxious, stressed-out individual has poor sleep, palpitations, shortness of breath, and upset stomach, I would immediately consider this point. Asian medical tradition recognizes that the pericardium channel connects pericardium and digestive organs. One might argue that pericardium channel resembles a part of the vagus nerve pathway. This point is also great for nausea. Nausea bands that you find in any drugstores are designed to apply acupressure on this point to alleviate nausea.
If you don’t have the nausea band, pressing this point could also relieve nausea. It is definitely worth a try. The point is located two fingers width from the wrist crease. It is also 1/6 of the distance between the wrist crease to the elbow crease. It is located between the two tendons (flexor carpi radialis muscle and palmaris longus muscle). When you locate this point, use a tip of a thumb to press this point perpendicularly. It is often tender to touch, but keep pressing this point until the tenderness dissipates.
